“Workin On It” is a vulnerable, relatable R&B/pop topline about recognizing your own flaws and learning how to show up better for someone you genuinely care about. The lyrics explore being introverted, emotionally unavailable at times, afraid of moving too fast, and knowing that those habits can make a relationship difficult.
Rather than pretending to have everything figured out, the song centers on the willingness to grow and put in the effort. The repetitive “I’m working on it” hook turns that vulnerability into a simple, memorable statement, while the verses balance honesty, personality, and self-awareness. It’s a modern love song about accepting that relationships take work and choosing to keep trying when someone is worth it.
