My focus is helping engineers and artists develop trust in their ears, supported by a clear, actionable mixing methodology. Rather than relying on guesswork or presets, I walk people through the fundamentals and “grammar” of mixing — the practical decisions behind gain staging, panning, width, EQ, dynamic range manipulation, reverb strategy, and bus processing. Over the years I’ve developed a sequenced workflow for mixing and mastering that I enjoy sharing with clients and students. I’ve also designed mixing and mastering curriculum for programs at Icon Collective, Drexel University, and Rowan University. The method grew out of my years working as a for-hire mixing assistant in New York, where I spent extended periods sitting beside engineers like Jimmy Douglass (Led Zeppelin, Timbaland), Dan Grech-Marguerat (Radiohead, Lana Del Rey, Beck), Bonzai Caruso (Damian Marley), and Josh Abbey (Bob Dylan). During those years I started taking careful notes on how great mixers actually approach a session — how they structure a mix, how they make decisions, and just as importantly, what they don’t do. In these sessions we’ll apply those ideas directly to your music while making meaningful improvements to the mix in real time. Most sessions run either 1 or 2 hours, which tends to be enough time to dive into a song and make real progress while introducing the broader framework behind the process. If you’d like to continue beyond the first session, we can also bundle multiple sessions to cover the full workflow. The sessions are productive, practical, and often a lot of fun — a chance to really dig into the craft and connect beyond the usual mastering exchange emails.
